A couple of days ago was fancying asking
G---- whether he had read “Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner”. The movie version aired on TVO last night,
as I found out watching the interviews between pictures. The interviewer of course is Thom Ernst, one
of G----’s ‘Facebook Friends’. (Weak...)
Also was browsing my diary a few days ago – the one of Jan 3 1999
caught my attention, where I record a dream in which a flock of geese including one named “Gus” suddenly change direction 180 degrees. Watching Mary Tyler Moore last night – an
episode where Ted uses counting rhymes to select one of two remaining spots on
a football pool, one being “geese fly east, geese fly west”. There is a character called Gus in this
episode who persuades Mary to buy a helicopter for the station.
This morning browsing an sf site found a
reference to Samuel Delany’s Tales of Neveryon, with its Bridge of Lost Desire.
